Student Tips

Here are a few tips that will make finding a tutor easier:

  1. Don't wait until the last minute to find someone.
  2. Most tutors do other things beside tutoring and may be very busy people. If you think you may need a tutor to help you pass that big exam, give yourself a couple of weeks headstart to find the right person.

  3. Request more than one tutor at a time.
  4. If you request two or three tutors at the same time, you are more likely to find someone who suits your needs, your schedule and your budget.

  5. Don't give up if you can't find a tutor for your needs.
  6. If you can't find a tutor for the specific subject you require, you can always post a Special Tutor Wanted ad. Or, email us directly at

Because we are teachers, one of our main goals is to help students. We may know of someone who hasn't yet registered but could help, so it never hurts to ask.

  7. Ask a lot of questions when you are considering hiring someone.
  8. Here are some sample questions:

What are your qualifications? What experience have you had?

How long and where have you studied this subject?

How many people have you tutored?

Why do you want to be a tutor?

Have you had any experience with children / highschool students?

Do you have the names and phone numbers of references?

When are you available? Where do you tutor?

    What do you charge?

What is your preference for payment i.e. hourly / weekly / monthly, cash or cheque?

  9. Give us (and the tutor) your feedback.
  10. We hope that your experience will be a positive one. If it isn't, we need to know as the tutors are really a reflection of our business. If you like us, tell others. If you don't, tell us!
